A matching pair of British Admiralty / Royal Navy pattern ship's Port and Starboard navigation lanterns. Constructed from copper with brass fittings, glass fresnel lenses.
These lanterns were probaly converted to electrical operation because there is a hole for a cable in the back door, the original oil burners are missing.
Applied brass plaques stamped BOW PORT PATT 23 & BOW STARBOARD PATT 24, The lanterns are also stamped: ALDERSON & GYDE LTD, BIRMINGHAM, 1944 & 1945. Height to top of chimney 16" / 40 cm - max 18" / 46 cm.
