Welcome to our selection of antique ship's lanterns, ship lamps and nautical lighting.
 Ship's lanterns come in many different shapes and sizes, they also had many different specific uses aboard the ship. Navigation lamps ( Port, Starboard, Masthead and Stern ) indicated the direction and aspect of the ship to prevent collisions at sea. Signal lamps were used to communicate with ship or shore, others were used to light the ship's passageways, compartments and cabins. A matching pair of British Admiralty / Royal Navy pattern ship's Port and Starboard navigation lanterns. Constructed from copper with brass fittings, glass fresnel lenses and original oil burners.
Applied brass plaques stamped BOW PORT PATT 23 & BOW STARBOARD PATT 24, The lanterns are also stamped: ALDERSON & GYDE LTD, BIRMINGHAM, 1944 & 1945. - Height to top of chimney 16" / 40 cm - max 18" / 46 cm.

A rare pair of British Admiralty / Royal Navy pattern ships Port and Starboard navigation lanterns.
Made from copper with brass fittings, glass fresnel lenses. All components stamped with the British Broard Arrow mark. One lanterns is stamped BULPITT & SONS, 1905,

ANTIQUE YACHT OR SHIP'S CANDLE LAMP'S
A matching pair of antique gimbaled candle lamps.Â
This type of mid 19th century nautical light was probably from an early elegant steamship or a classic gentleman's yacht.
Constructed from brass with a stylised sea serpent or dolphin mounting bracket with gimbal mechanism to keep the light upright regardless of the heel angle of the vessel. These lamps were designed to burn tallow candles and have a sprung loaded body. Height of lamp 9" / 23cm. ( excluding glass chimney ) The glass chimneys are not included because they get broken during transit, but they are available from good hardware stores.

 A rare British Admiralty / Royal Navy ship's long nosed signal lantern, made by Meteorite and constructed from copper with brass fittings, glass fresnel lens and complete with light shutter mechanism. ANTIQUE YACHT OR SHIP'S CANDLE LAMP'S

The lantern is also stamped: TELFORD, GRIER & MACKAY LTD, GLASGOW, 1917. Height to top of chimney 16" / 40 cm - max 18" / 46 cm.

ANTIQUE SHIPS SEARCH LIGHT
Antique ships search light. This Francis search light was reputedly removed from a scrapped RNLI lifeboat.
The chrome plated brass search lamp has been polished and mounted on an antique mahogany tripod.
It has been re wired to operate on 240 volts and accommodate modern light bulbs.
This decorative maritime antique certainly makes a statement and it has a maritime style all of its own.
Height: 1.7 m / 5.5 feet.
Diameter of searchlight: 28 cm / 11 inches.
