Antique gimballed yacht lamp from H.M.Y BRITANNIA, 1893 - 1936.

A superb antique candle lamp from the His Majesty’s Yacht BRITANNIA, it is beautifully engraved H.M.Y. BRITANNIA, 1893 - 1936 on the base.

The yacht was ordered by the Prince of Wales in 1892 and built by D&W Henderson on the river Clyde. She was launched in 1893 and had a length of 121.5ft and the 164ft mast carried a massive 10,328 square feet of canvas.

During the yachts racing career she won 231 races and became the most successful racing yacht of all time
