In 1841 the company was established by Alexander Dobbie, in 1881 after the death of Alexander the company name was changed to Alexander Dobbie & Son. In 1896 the firm was incorporated and changed its name to Alexander Dobbie & Son Ltd, in 1902 the name changed to Dobbie McInnes Ltd.
