The silver scale is engraved from -5Â degrees to 155 degrees and can measure angles up to 129 degrees, it is divided into 10 minute increments. The index arm has swinging scale magnifier, the silver Vernier scale reads from 0 to 10 seconds of arc. This antique Sextant has a 6.5 inch radius.
This rare Sextant has a universal rack and pinion focusing object lens that comes with three interchangeable eye pieces.
It is contained within its original hardwood box that has a patent push button release mechanism and brass carry handle. It is also complete with all its accessories - two eye piece sun filters, mirror adjusting tool, screwdriver and key to the box lock. It also has a Patent greatest angle clamp.
This antique Sextant is also engraved on the arc with the original Royal Navy officers name: G. Brook Riley and has the letters R.N. after his name.
