An early 19th Century / circa 1810 Octant, constructed from ebony , brass and ivory
The ivory makers plate is engraved C. Baker, 244 High Holborn, London.
This antique navigators Octant has been mounted onto a hardwood backboard for presentation or display, the Octant can easily be removed so it can be handled and operated. There is space below the Octant so an engraved presentation plaque could be attached if required.
The Octant has not been modified or damaged to enable mounting.
The Firm of C. Baker was established at 244 High Holborn, London in 1765.
The antique Octant can easily be removed from the backboard mount.
