Antique marine oil painting of the four masted, barque rigged sailing ship COLONIAL EMPIRE.
The sailing ship is depicted in a storm and only has the storm sails set.
Frame size: H 55 x W 81 cm.
Lloyds register of shipping lists the COLONIAL EMPIRE as being buil in 1902 by J. Reid & Co, Glasgow. The ship was a 2436 ton four masted steel barque that had a length of 302.1 feet / beam 43.2 feet / draught 24.7 feet. The ship was owned by Cook & Dundas and registered in London.
